One of my favourite recruitment stories
In 2025, coach Cignetti became the Indiana Hoosiers football team head coach. The Hoosiers were constantly one of the worst Division I football teams in the US and in 'one year' he turned them into a national champion with a 16-0 record. A big part of his success was his recruiting strategy. Coach Cignetti did not chase 5 star prospects, instead he chased kids who 'fit' his program and the needs of the team and then developed them. The Hurricanes had 'forty five' 4 & 5 star recruits and the Hoosiers had 'seven' 4 & 5 star recruits when they won the championship.
